WAB Golf team to ACAMIS Golf 2024-225
The 2024-25 golf team traveled to Sanya for the ACAMIS Golf Tournament, where over 17 schools participated and more than 130 golfers competed in a two-day event.
WAB traveled with 10 golfers, consisting of 6 high school and 4 middle school athletes, which is great to see. Our athletes have been playing and training together, which is unique for such an individual sport. Led by our two senior captains, Amanda Z and Jaxson F, the team placed 4th overall out of 17 schools. Considering Beijing’s golf season started only two weeks before the tournament, the team can walk away with their heads held high.
In the middle school team, Joshua placed 7th in his category, and Emily S placed 6th in hers. It is wonderful to see our younger students gain experience and play at such a high level. Co-Captain Amanda Z, after a long break from the game to complete her mock exams, shot an impressive -4 over two days, placing 3rd overall in her category. Her score highlights her achievement in balancing schoolwork and practice while competing in golf at an elite level. Although the team narrowly missed out on taking home some hardware, they brought back valuable lessons that will make our student-athletes better for future matches.
There is much to be proud of from our Tiger golfers, especially in how they have encouraged each other to play and improve. Our other co-captain and senior, Jaxson, along with sophomore Azlan, have been instrumental in building team culture among the golfers.
The coaches want to congratulate all golfers on their maturity and improvement since last year and are excited to see their continued growth this year. The team will compete in an invitational tournament on April 13.
Congratulations to Amanda, Azlan, Emily, David, Jaxson, James, John, Joshua, Sophie, and Thomas. Missing: Raymond, Victoria.
Special Thanks to Mr Clark and Ms Xiaojing for helping out this tournament.
Tigers out of the Woods!
