Bus Rules
Please review the following rules with your child(ren).
- Students shall respect and listen the bus supervisor’s instructions at all times.
- Students are asked to talk quietly and remain seated, with their feet on the floor, facing front at all times.
- Students are required to wear seat belts at all times.
- Students may not eat or drink on the bus. Only water is allowed.
- Students shall be at the bus stop on time.
- All bus windows must be kept closed.
- Students must behave appropriately and in accordance with school rules.
- Early Years and Junior Grade 1 students must be met at the bus stop in the afternoons by a parent or caregiver.
- Senior Grade 1 to Grade 3 students must also be met at the bus stop in the afternoons by a parent or caregiver. If a JG1, Grade 2 or Grade 3 student is allowed to walk home alone from the bus stop in the afternoons the parents must inform the Transportation Department.
- Grade 4 and Grade 5 students can walk home alone from the bus stop in the afternoons.
- Late Buses (5:45pm Mon, Tues, Thurs and Fri) are only available for students in Grade 5 and above. Parents must email the Transportation Department, prior to using this service, so everyone is clear of the differences between the Regular/ASA bus service and the Late bus service.
Consequences for Inappropriate Behavior
In cases of inappropriate behavior on WAB buses and/or failure to adhere to the bus rules, the Bus Supervisor will fill out a Bus Incident Report and give it to the Transportation Manager, who will share it with the appropriate ES, MS or HS Vice Principal. The Vice Principal will then speak with the Bus Supervisor to gain a clear picture of the inappropriate behavior and, if necessary, a meeting will be held with the student. A record will be kept of the number of incident reports for each child.
In cases of excessive reports or behavior that jeopardizes the safety of others, the parents will be contacted and asked to meet with the Vice Principal. Each incident will be considered on an individual basis and appropriate consequences applied. The school reserves the right to suspend a student from the bus for any given period of time.
Thank you for your support in helping us safely and efficiently operate this important school service.
