The Board of Trustees of WAB is responsible for leading the school’s long term planning and direction. This document serves to concisely articulate that direction and is the basis upon which the School develops its strategic plans. In doing so, this document is predicated upon and holds true WAB’s Core Values, Mission Statement, and Philosophy of the School. The document is reviewed and updated periodically by the Board.
These statements of intent are to be achieved or maintained.
1. WAB is a destination school.
- WAB offers, but is not limited to, a full IB World School accredited program.
- The academic program is exceptional.
- A small school culture is preserved.
2. WAB educates the Whole Child.
- Early childhood through high school learning is maintained.
- Co-curricular and experiential outdoor education and leadership opportunities and programs are provided.
- The individual is celebrated.
3. WAB reflects global diversity.
- The Board, teaching staff and students represent a wide range of nationalities.
- Admissions are inclusive and diverse.
- Financial aid is available.
4. WAB offers quality Chinese language instruction.
- Staff and students are competent in Chinese language.
- The Chinese language program is world leading.
- Chinese language immersion experience is offered.
5. WAB is actively China engaged.
- China learning is integrated into the curriculum.
- Staff and students interact with local and national society.
- The community is served.
6. WAB's future is assured.
- 3-5 year strategic plans are developed and reviewed annually.
- The land and buildings are owned or under long term control.
- Development funding supports the pursuit of the Lighthouse goals.
