Middle School WAB Weekly: April 25, 2025

Message from the MS Principal:

Grade 8 Celebration is an event designed for students and led by students. The ceremony is scheduled for Friday, June 6. Please find the program for the evening here. Grade 8 students will come to school as usual on June 6. They will go across the bridge to High School, welcomed by high school students and teachers. Parents are welcome to watch the bridging crossing practice at 8:35am-8:40am, but the formal bridge crossing and ceremony will take place in the afternoon between 5:00pm-9:00pm.

Day 9: You can find the list of the last Day 9 activities here

Middle School Student Placement 2025-26: We are working on the placement process for the current Grade 6 and 7 students soon. We would like to partner with parents and students to provide the best learning environments for your child(ren) next year. Our faculty takes great pride in getting to know each child's academic, behavioral, social, and emotional strengths, as well as areas for growth. When placing students in groups, we look at a wide range of factors:

  • Gender
  • Nationality
  • Home language
  • Academic needs of individual students
  • English language levels of proficiency
  • Social and emotional needs
  • Learning buddies
  • Other extenuating circumstances

Oftentimes, parents bring another perspective to these factors, as students may be different in their home environment than in the school environment. Therefore, we are providing parents of Grade 6 and 7 students an opportunity to share your perspectives. Because WAB hires only highly qualified, experienced teachers, requests for students to be placed with specific teachers will not be considered. Current Grade 8 students will be placed into their classes by the HS team.?

If you have more than one child in the MS, please fill out a separate survey for each child. Students will complete a different survey to share their perspectives, including the names of others who help them learn. Please fill in the survey to share your input by May 5. The survey link can be found here.

MADfest 2025: Timeless invites students to embark on a month-long journey of artistic exploration and expression. This celebration of creativity will run from May 5 to June 11, offering students the opportunity to immerse themselves in one subject from Music, Visual Art, Theatre, or Dance. We encourage them to follow their passion as they dive into the art form that resonates with their creative spirit.

  • Music: Fuel your passion as you master orchestral or rock band instruments, and allow your voice to soar through diverse musical styles, all resonating with the theme 'Timeless.'
  • Visual Art: Using the theme ' Timeless ', you'll use your imagination and experiences to explore responses to the theme using a wide, varied collection of media and processes, which we'll workshop in the first week
  • Theatre: In Theatre, we will be exploring the theme of ' Timeless ' and creating an original performance in response to it. Students will be the creators/writers/performers.
  • Dance: Explore the transformative power of dance to evoke wonder and embrace the joy of exploration, where every path leads to new adventures.

Grade 8 China Studies trip is coming up on May 12-16. Students are going to Engebei, Inner Mongolia, and the theme of the trip is "experiencing Mongolian cultural customs and inquiring into ecological governance" to inspire students to take action and make the world a better place through their own efforts for sustainable development. Students will explore humanistic history, natural science and ecology, intangible cultural heritage arts, Mongolian food, and others.

We are purchasing tickets to ensure that we get group tickets for everyone to sit together. We kindly ask all Grade 8 parents to check the documents uploaded to WAB Mobile Connect to make sure that they are up to date and valid. If you have any questions, please email [email protected]
