WAB's Whole Community Welcomes the Year of the Dragon
The vibrant spirit of the Spring Festival came alive at WAB as students engaged in a range of activities at WAB's Temple Fair on February 8. This event brought students from different grade levels together as buddies, fostering cross-grade friendships while providing insights into Chinese culture.
Wang Wenjing, WAB's China Studies Director, described the Temple Fair as a truly special day when the entire community gathered to celebrate the Chinese Spring Festival. Students from various grade levels were paired up and engaged in a myriad of activities throughout the day.
According to Wenjing, the campus was abuzz with over 100 Cultural Workshops facilitated by 50 Chinese experts who were present to support students' learning. The involvement of more than 150 WAB parents as volunteers added to the festive atmosphere. The HUB and the Elementary School Gym were transformed into vibrant spaces with decorations, featuring dozens of Temple Fair booths catering to all school sections. In total, more than 1600 members of the WAB community came together to celebrate the beginning of the Year of the Dragon.
Grade 8 students, Leyla and Sophie, expressed their appreciation for the Temple Fair as a valuable opportunity to embrace traditional Chinese culture and connect with their younger peers.
During the event, students enthusiastically embraced our host country's rich cultural traditions. They engaged in activities such as calligraphy, lantern making, crafting, folk games, and Gomoku, and enjoyed a variety of festival snacks. The Temple Fair not only provided a platform for students to celebrate Chinese culture but also allowed students of all ages to come together and learn from one another. It's another day at WAB filled with joy, learning, and cultural appreciation.
