Student-led Initiatives at the WAB Community Market

Student-led Initiatives at the WAB Community Market

Mark your calendars for WAB's long-awaited Community Market on Saturday, November 23. This beloved winter tradition promises a day brimming with delicious food, service-driven student projects, and a chance to peruse unique holiday presents.

Organized by Charity Link, a part of Parent Link, the Community Market extends a warm invitation to the Beijing community to join us on November 23, running from 10:00am to 3:00pm. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Read on for some of the student-led projects that will at the Market:

  • Stars and Rain will be selling merchandise created by autistic children, including paintings, canvas bags, etc. They will also be selling paper cups, paintings, and artwork created by Grade 3 students during the I-DEAS Day X workshops.

The Stars and Rain Club members shared that they are participating in the market to help partnered communities make an income while raising awareness for autism.

  • ProFarmer is in charge of the Farmers' Produce Market, which will be held in the ES Gym on the day of the Community Market. The market will offer a variety of locally and sustainably sourced organic fresh fruits and vegetables, perfect for those looking to support eco-friendly farming practices and enjoy fresh, healthy foods.

This will also be a chance to support and connect with local farmers and take home fresh and healthy ingredients for you and your family. They look forward to seeing you there and would like to remind you to bring a reusable bag.

  • Ugly Fruit Project will be selling juice at the Community Market. By doing so, they wish to spread awareness of the ugly fruit theory and reduce food waste in Beijing while supporting community partner, Shared Harvest.

  • KM For Love will be doing four main things, inviting people to decorate their banner, auction pieces created during Day X, and selling homemade cookies and merchandise.

This club aims to promote the KM For Love Run & Brunch that will take place in March.

  • German Culture Club are excited to share a taste of German holiday traditions with the school community by offering authentic German cookies at the market. They will sell German cookies, inviting people to celebrate the festive season and explore a unique part of German culture through its delicious treats. All proceeds will go toward supporting the school's holiday charity drive, making it a sweet way to give back during the holidays.

  • Korean Culture Club will be selling Korean-style stall foods, including noodles, chicken, fishcake, and hot chocolate. Showcasing Korean cuisine and culture.
