Junior Tigersharks: “Little & Baby Dragons” Swim Meet @ ISB
(This article is written by WAB's Grade 10 student?Zi Ming Tang.)
Hosted by the International School of Beijing on May 25, the "Little & Baby Dragons"?Swim Meet was open to young swimmers aged 9 and below and provided a fun opportunity for our younger swimmers to make a splash at competitive swimming!
"For many students, it is their introduction to competitive swimming. This meet acts as a great transition from when children are gaining confidence in their stroke development, through learning to swim- to transitioning to more structured training and competitions,"?WAB’s Aquatics Director Coach Don mentions, "It is also one of the highlights of the year for coaches and parents as the young swimmers display new skills in a fun packed atmosphere!"
During the "Little & Baby Dragons"?event, younger members of WAB's swimming community are introduced to the sport's exciting energy and get to experience representing their school in a city-wide event early on. This whole meet was?not timed, without any awards, and each swimmer received?a colorful band after finishing a race, emphasizing the "fun"?aspect of the meet.?
“Kindly be reminded that this meet is a showcase development meet. Meaning it’s a fun event with random seeding,” The ISB aquatics team explains, “There will be music, student help for volunteering, and just a fun relaxed atmosphere.”
Swimming is a tedious and long journey, and athletes' dedication to the sport is extremely important and reflected in their performance. Our young Tigersharks swimmers demonstrated impressive sportsmanship and resilience during this event.?
Excellent job to the Junior Tigersharks for competing at the annual Little & Baby Dragons Swim Meet!?
