Sustainability
Sustainability at WAB is a dynamic, community-driven process that places an emphasis on empowering students to assess and improve the environmental sustainability of our campus and the world beyond.
Sustainability Steering Committee
WABs Sustainability Strategic Steering Committee is made up of leadership, students, employees, parents and board members. Their goal is to not only improve the sustainability of our school, but to also create a culture of sustainability among our community.
Student voice is critical in this work, and students have led projects across the school, including re-wilding campus, waste management, composting, Precious Plastics and many more.
Sustainability Audit
In 2024 WAB completed the Metanoia Sustainability Audit. This comprehensive initiative engaged the entire school community as we assessed various aspects of sustainability, including campus operations, curriculum integration, and community engagement. The audit process empowered students to become leaders in sustainability efforts and provided them with hands-on opportunities to analyze data and propose actionable recommendations.
The Sustainability Steering Committee is unpacking the final report and determining the next steps we will take a community.
Student Led Action
WAB students have been taking action on sustainability, to find out more about student work on sustainability:
WAB is much more than a school; as students, we are much more than students; as an individual, I’m much more than an individual. I am myself, but WAB made me understand I have a role in my surrounding community.WAB Alumni
