Dear ES families,
We hope you are looking forward to a wonderful spring break holiday where you will be able to spend some quality time with family and friends. We have two items that need your attention and action directly after the break.?
Student-led Conferences
?
Student-led conferences are an opportunity for students to share and celebrate their learning in all curriculum areas with their parents. Student-led conferences involve the student and the parent. ?
Students are responsible for leading the conference, and also take responsibility for their learning by sharing the process with their parents through a variety of different learning situations. Therefore, students need to attend in order to lead and share their learning experiences with you. We encourage you to speak in your home language if it will enhance the experience. The teacher’s role is to greet parents and help guide students to move from one station to the next if needed. ? ?
Key Information for student-led conferences are as follows:?
?
? Date: ?April 17?
- Early Years to Grade 4 - Student-led Conferences
- Grade 5 - Exhibition work day at school – NO ASA's (normal buses for G5 only at 3:30pm)
? Time choices: 8:30am, 9:30am, 11:00am, 1:00pm, and 2:00pm.?
? Book through: PickAtime (Opens March 28 at 8:00am & closes April 15 at 8:00am)?
? Please allow 2 hours for conferences?
Sodexo will be serving snack and lunch, as usual, for Grade 5 students. If you have multiple children at WAB ES and your appointments fall either side of lunch time then your child can scan their face in the Atrium and choose from the lunch options on offer there. There will also be a few grab and go items for parents to purchase with WeChat pay should you wish to eat with your child before the next meeting.
?
Parents are asked to sign up for homeroom conferences only. You and your child(ren) should visit single subject areas either before or after the homeroom conference. If you have multiple children in ES, book a separate conference time with each child's homeroom teacher and then your children can showcase their skills at the same time when you visit specials (VA, PA, PE, DESIGN, LIBRARY & LANGUAGES). Students are only expected to attend school on this day during their conference time. Please note that if there are individual items that need to be discussed with the teacher, a separate appointment on another day must be scheduled.?
?
For New Families- How to access Single Sign on & PickAtime?
Access your PickATime account through our Single-Sign-On (SSO) system. To do so, simply open your MyApps portal and look for the PickATime logo for the ES. You will then see your children listed in the PickATime app. For more instructions on SSO, please see the Support Guide here.
Class Placement Process for 2025-2026?
The WAB ES team has begun our homeroom class placement process and would like to once again partner with you to provide the best learning environment for the 2025-26 school year. The deadline for completing the survey is April 18. The survey link can be found in WAB Weekly through March and until April 11. Our team takes great pride in getting to know each child's academic, behavioral, social and emotional strengths as well as areas that can be an area of focus. When placing students in classes, we look at a wide range of criteria including: ?
- Gender????
- Learning needs??
- EAL needs????
- Attitude and effort????
-
Friendship requests (parents and students)????
- First language/home language???
- Social and emotional needs???
- Behavior????
-
Historical separations??
- Teacher/student disposition matching??
- Academics?
Parents bring another perspective to these areas as home environments are different to the school environment. We encourage all parents of returning students to share your perspectives. All WAB teachers are highly qualified and are experienced educators. Therefore, requests for students to be placed with specific teachers are not considered. NOTE: If you have more than one child in the ES you will have to fill out a separate survey for each child.?

We thank you for your continued partnership and look forward to seeing you in April at the Student led conferences.?
?
Warm regards,?
The ES Leadership Team?
