Dear WAB Families,?
?
The WAB Board of Trustees are pleased to share that, in accordance with the WAB Board Bylaws, the process for electing one new Parent-Elected Board Member is now underway. We warmly invite nominations from parents interested in serving on the WAB Board of Trustees for the 2025–2027 term.?
About the WAB Board of Trustees ?
?
WAB is a non-profit international school governed by a voluntary Board of Trustees. The Board is composed of seven members:?
- 3 appointed by WAB’s Jubanzhe (Founder) WAB-ED
-
2 appointed by the Board itself
- 2 elected by WAB’s parent community
Each parent-elected trustee serves a staggered two-year term, with one parent elected each year. The annual election is facilitated by Parent Link.?
?
The work of the Board is guided by the Constitution of WAB, as well as key foundational documents including the Board By-Laws and Board Policies. All of these documents can be found on the Parent Portal.?
Responsibilities of the Board?
The Board works strategically to guide and uphold WAB’s mission and long-term success. Responsibilities include:
-
Hiring, supporting, and evaluating the Head of School
- Ensuring the school’s long-term financial sustainability
- Approving school policies
- Participating in the vision and strategic planning of the school
Board members attend monthly meetings and often participate in standing or ad hoc committees. Serving on the Board is a rewarding opportunity to collaborate with others and help shape the future of WAB.?
Who Can Be a Candidate?
?
To be eligible, candidates must:
-
Be a parent or guardian of a current WAB student
- Reside in Beijing and hold a valid residence permit
Candidates may not:?
- Be employed by another international or bilingual school in China, or be the spouse of such an employee
- Be the spouse of a WAB employee if their residence permit is sponsored by WAB
-
Have institutional affiliations that may create a conflict of interest (as determined by the Board)
Candidates holding diplomatic status must have prior agreement from their diplomatic mission.?
?
We are seeking individuals who believe in WAB’s Vision, Mission, and Core Values, and who have the time, interest, and expertise to contribute meaningfully to this leadership role.?
While experience in areas such as finance, law, human resources, education, real estate, or project management is valued, it is not a requirement. Most importantly, we welcome candidates who are committed to supporting WAB’s continued growth and success.?
To ensure a diverse and representative Board, we encourage nominations from parents of different backgrounds, cultures, and nationalities. ?In accordance with the current Board Constitution, no more than three voting members may hold the same nationality. If this limit is exceeded, the WAB and WAB-ED (Jubanzhe) Boards will take steps to bring the Board into alignment within two years. This may include adjusting appointments or applying nationality restrictions to future parent elections.?
